Freerolls at Full Tilt Poker

March 22nd, 2009

Many poker players would like to give online poker a shot but they are afraid to due to concerns over internet security or even anti-gaming laws such as the UIGEA. For those players, Full Tilt Poker offers a vast array of freeroll tournaments that all players are eligible for. All you need is a Full Tilt Poker account, and you can play in these events.

There are many different types of freeroll tournaments that you can play on Full Tilt. Obviously, the most popular freeroll tournaments are those for cash. These freerolls typically have fields of 2,700, which is the maximum allowed players for most freerolls. They also pay only 27 spots. In a $100 freeroll, the top prize would be $15. This may not seem like a lot of money, but $15 can buy you entry into several small buy-in sit-n-go’s or other tournaments. You can also play micro stakes cash games. WSOP-E Main Event Champions Annette Obrestad aka “Annette_15” started her online playing career winning a freeroll tournament online and to this day has never had to fund her poker account.

There are also freeroll tournaments into larger events such as the Main Event Race tournament, which can win you a seat into the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. Recently, there was a set of freeroll tournaments that ultimately awarded one spot at the NBC National Heads-Up Championship. In the past, there have also been freerolls to spots on Poker After Dark.

Another freeroll that is quite popular is the freeroll for Phil Gordon’s Final Table Poker DVD. These events are almost always maxed out at 2,700 players and only the winner receives a copy of the DVD. While this DVD is not cash money in your account, there are many valuable concepts that players can learn to improve their game which can over time put money into their account.

Most people would expect that these freerolls would be primarily NL Holdem donkfests. This is true to a degree, but there are other types of freerolls. There are freerolls offered in HOE, HORSE, PLO, Razz, and even Limit Holdem. Tournaments such as the H.O.R.S.E. tournaments offer players a way to freeroll their way to some cash without having to call multiple all-ins on the first hand hoping that your aces don’t get cracked.

Freerolls are not offered only by Full Tilt Poker. There are many organizations that offer freerolls through Full Tilt. These private freeroll events require a password and are used as special incentives to get players for their brand onto Full Tilt Poker. An example is a regular freeroll held by Rounders radio. Players must listen to the program 30 minutes prior to the show to get the password.

Freeroll tournaments offer players an opportunity to play on Full Tilt Poker without the risk of having to make a deposit. It is in essence free money. In most cases, you will have to outlast 99% of the field in order to make money, but if you are successful, you can make anywhere from 200 to 1500% profit on your “tournament buy-in.”

All you need to do in order to participate in any freeroll is to download the software at FullTiltPoker.com and register for an account. Then go to the freeroll you are interested in and register. If you enter one and happen to bust out, don’t worry, as these freerolls are consistently run throughout the day to give players multiple chances to earn a free bankroll.
